A few nights ago when I made Trav get up with the baby I heard him moaning. Ever the loving wife, I was a little irritated until he told me that he was having a hard time breathing and his chest hurt. Scary! We figured he wasnt' having a heart attack since he only just turned 29, but crazy stuff happens to people all time right? I tried to convince him to let me take him to the hospital, but he insisted he'd be fine waiting till morning to see a doctor.
When I called the doctor and told them my husband was having chest pain, they got him in for the first appointment of the morning. Luckily, he had an EKG and we know his heart is fine. He has some sort of infection either in his lungs or in the cartilage between his ribs. It should go away soon. What a relief!
The timing of this is amazing. I've been feeling inspired/pressured that we need to get life insurance. We actually met with someone a few weeks ago to discuss it, but haven't made a final decision about anything. It has led to some interesting discussions though-- like if it's worth it to insure me at all since I make no money, if it's okay to remarry (which included a discussion of "If I were lost at sea how long would you wait before deciding I was dead and moving on with life?"), etc. Just before getting in bed last night T asked if I would keep living in this house if he died, and I was vehement in my negative response. I think I'd have to get out as soon as possible so that it didn't break my heart every time I woke up and he wasn't here.
I love my husband so much. He is really the greatest person in the world, and he speaks my love language (Service). Last weekend he accomplished more than I have been able to do in months: cleaned all the bathrooms in the house, potty trained Kate, took Anna on a daddy/daughter date, made dinner, watched the kids and put them to bed so I could go to the adult session of stake conference, administered eyedrops for Kate's goopy eye problem.... and the list goes on. I would be so lost without him. I'm glad he didn't die in the night!

The early bird gets ______
One of the moms of a girl in Anna's preschool class called me this morning, around 8:50. I think I may have been giving Eve a bath, so I missed the call. She was wondering if we wanted to play today. I called her back at 10:30 when I noticed the message. "When were you thinking you'd like us to come?" I asked. "How about now," was her reply.
I looked down at myself. Still in pajamas, hair all askew, no teeth brushed. I looked at my girls. Same story, except that Kate was also covered in raspberry jam. At least Eve was clean, but she was due to eat any minute.
"Now's not really good for us."
Only a month ago I would have been ashamed at our lazy state that late in the morning. But, my how things change when you have a newborn! I can barely get it together on the days that Anna has to be at preschool by 9, so on days when I have nothing planned, I just do nothing! I know that this period of life will fade and we'll be functional again before too long, but sheesh, for now we're just holding it together by a thread.
Just so you know, it's almost 2 now and we're going to the girl's house at 3. My kids still pretty much look the same as they did 4 hours ago, but at least I'm ready.

Vacation's All I Ever Wanted...
Imagine you have x amount of dollars to spend on a vacation. You have 2 cute little princesses who may go insane on a long car trip, one baby princess who undoubtedly would need to eat every few hours, and two parents who might have more fun without the kids any way.
Here are the options for Larsen Family Vacation 2009:
1. Family road trip to Disneyland. Anna asked me the other day if she could go live with Ariel there.
2. Family road trip to Chicago/Wisconsin/St. Louis. Trav wants to catch a Cubs game and we'd love to see our Wisconsin friends! The bonus of this plan is that there is a lot to see/do along the way.
3. Family road trip to Austin, Texas. Good thing about that is we'd have a free place to stay, and get to be with our wonderful Bassett friends. Bad thing is that there is NOTHING to do on the way there. We may all be insane before we get there.
4. No family trip. Send Trav by himself to Paris to see the wedding of one of his best friends in July. Good for him, sad for us. But remember, we only have x amount of dollars and tickets to Paris are exorbitant in the summer!
